Delete your Emberlo data
Emberlo has no account, so there is no “delete account” step. Your data is in three places. This page says how to delete each one, and how to ask us to delete plan records and gift codes on our servers.
1. Delete data on your phone
- Open the Me tab → Leave the shared home → Continue → confirm. Then on the read-only copy screen choose Start a new household and confirm to remove the ledger copy from this phone. Your partner’s phone is not affected. If you want to keep the figures, export CSV first.
- Or uninstall the app: the app’s data is removed from the device. Receipt and warranty photos are not in operating-system backups, so they go with the app.
- Backup files and CSV files you saved in Files, iCloud Drive or Google Drive are yours to manage; delete them there.
2. Data on the relay server
End-to-end encrypted sync packets are deleted the moment the other phone receives them, and after 14 days at most. You do not need to do anything. We cannot read what is in them.
3. Plan records and gift codes on our servers
If you bought a plan or redeemed a code, we hold the records listed in section 4 of the Privacy Policy: the hashed device id, the subscription record and the hashed gift code. They contain no name or email, so to find the right record please write to info@haikotek.com with:
- Subject: “Delete my Emberlo data” and what you want (delete, access or a copy).
- Your support code (it looks like SUP-XXXXX-XXXXX; in the app: Me → About Emberlo). If you cannot see one, send the order id from your Apple receipt email, or your Google Play order number (it looks like GPA.xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxx). If you redeemed a gift code, send that EMB-… code.
- Please do not send card numbers, photos of ID or the contents of your book.
One more step. Deleting our records does not cancel your plan in the store, and you will lose the paid features. Cancel in the store first: Apple, Google Play. We cannot cancel a plan for you.
We confirm we received the request within 2 working days and delete the records within 30 days at most (the law allows one extension, and we will tell you why), then tell you. Records inside server backups disappear when the backup expires, after about 5 weeks at most.
4. Data held by Apple, Google and elsewhere
- Purchase history is held by Apple or Google under their policies. Ask them to delete or restrict it through your account there.
- On Android, Google ML Kit diagnostics are held by Google; see Google’s disclosure.
5. What we may keep
We keep what the law requires (for example accounting and tax documents), use it only for that, and delete it when the period ends. We cannot delete or read the contents of your ledger because we hold no key; they exist only on your phone.
