Emberlo Terms of Use
These are the terms we and you agree to when you use Emberlo. We try to keep them short and clear.
1. Who provides Emberlo
Emberlo is provided by HAIKOTEK COMPANY LIMITED (CÔNG TY TNHH HAIKOTEK), business registration no. 0318449407, address 44/24A Truong Phuoc Phan Street, Neighborhood 1, Binh Tri Dong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Contact: info@haikotek.com.
2. What Emberlo is
Emberlo is a shared-expense notebook for two people. It helps you record spending and split it into jars. Emberlo does not connect to your bank and does not hold your money.
3. Who may use it
You must be at least 18 years old and have full legal capacity. You are responsible for your device and operating system.
4. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Emberlo on devices you own or are lawfully allowed to use, for personal purposes, under these terms and the rules of the store you downloaded it from. You may not copy it for distribution, sell, rent or reverse-engineer it, except where the law expressly allows. Open-source libraries in the app are under their own licences.
iOS. Unless we agree something else with you, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies together with these terms. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no duty to maintain or support Emberlo; we handle any claim about the app (defects, consumer rights, intellectual property). Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of that agreement.
Android. Downloading, updating and payment follow the Google Play terms.
5. Pairing and shared data
Emberlo has no account. When two phones pair, the shared data is visible to both people. Pair only with someone you trust, and confirm the same 6 digits on both screens. Each person decides what to put in a shared jar or a private pocket.
6. Backup and recovery
You are responsible for keeping your 16 recovery words and backup files. Because we hold no key, if you lose both your phone and the 16 words we cannot recover your book. The CSV files you export are not encrypted.
7. Paid plan and auto-renewal
The core of Emberlo is free. When the paid plan (Pro) goes on sale, you buy it through the App Store or Google Play as an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly. The plan name, length, price and any trial period are shown on the purchase screen and in the store before you confirm; the price in the store is the price that applies.
- Payment. The charge goes to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
- Auto-renewal. The plan renews for the same length unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends. With Apple, the renewal is charged within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Trial. If the plan has a trial period, it converts to a paid plan and you are charged when the trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Manage and cancel. You can manage or cancel at any time in your store account settings after purchase. On iPhone: how to cancel an Apple subscription. On Android: how to cancel on Google Play. Deleting the app does not cancel the plan.
- Price changes. If the price changes, the store tells you and asks for your consent where its rules require it; if you do not agree, the plan does not renew.
- What Pro includes. Two things: photos inside the encrypted backup, and warranty reminders on your phone. Nothing else is locked behind Pro.
- When a plan ends. The paid features lock. Your data stays on your phone. Exporting CSV, backup and restore, and syncing between two phones stay free.
8. Refunds
Apple or Google processes the payment, so they decide refunds; we do not receive your money and cannot refund you directly. How to ask: Apple, Google Play. If you get stuck, write to us and we will help you pass the request on. When a store refunds a purchase, the matching plan entitlement may be withdrawn. This does not take away consumer rights the law gives you.
9. Gift and offer codes
- A code is single-use per redemption, has no cash value, is not refundable, and expires on the date given with the code or offer.
- On iPhone, Apple offer codes are redeemed through the App Store. On Android, Google Play codes are redeemed through Google Play. Codes in the form EMB-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX are sent by Haikotek directly and redeemed as the accompanying instructions say.
- Codes may not be resold. We may withdraw a code, or the plan entitlement it created, in case of fraud, abuse, or when a store refunds the original transaction.
10. Shared home and installation seats
One plan covers one shared home: two people, one phone each. The plan can be activated on up to four installations of the app, so that replacing a phone or reinstalling does not need our help; this is not a promise of extra devices per person. When an installation leaves the home, its seat is released. A plan is not for splitting across several homes, renting or reselling; we may limit devices if we find abuse. We do not currently turn on Apple Family Sharing for Emberlo.
11. What you must not do
- Use Emberlo for anything unlawful.
- Try to break or reverse-engineer the encryption, or reach other people’s data.
- Use Emberlo to coerce or harm anyone.
- Overload, probe or attack our servers, or forge codes or entitlement proofs to use a plan without paying.
12. Not advice
Emberlo is a record-keeping tool. The figures in the app are entered by you and your partner; the app is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Ask a professional when you need one.
13. Ownership
Emberlo, its name, logo and interface belong to HAIKOTEK COMPANY LIMITED. The data you enter stays yours. We process it only as the Privacy Policy describes.
14. Limits of liability
Emberlo is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for your financial decisions, for loss from losing your phone together with your recovery words, or for events beyond our reasonable control, and our total liability to you will not exceed what you paid for Emberlo in the 12 months before the event. This does not exclude or limit liability that the law does not allow to be excluded or limited.
15. Changes and ending the service
We may update these terms or end a feature. For important changes we tell you in the app or in the release notes. You can always export your data as CSV. You may stop using Emberlo at any time; we may end your right to use it if you seriously break these terms.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam. We try to settle disputes by talking first; if that fails, they are resolved by the competent court in Vietnam.
